How and when will the money be paid to a recipient?

Payments to recipients will be made in 2 installments – the first upon commencement of making arrangements for travel and the second at the halfway stage of the intended duration of study for that year. Money will be paid by bank transfer. Upon receipt of the money, the recipient MUST complete and return an acknowledgement note.

Is the amount of money each recipient receives guaranteed?
The amount agreed with the trustees of theIF is not guaranteed. We will endeavour to pay all monies promised though unforeseen circumstances may affect the total amount paid.
How long does a scholarship last for?
A scholarship will last for 12 calendar months or one academic year. Further details will be discussed at interview stage.
Does a recipient have to pay the scholarship back?
A recipient MUST return any monies awarded if a change of circumstance results in a reduced duration of study. We will calculate a sum to be refunded based on a pro-rata of the amount awarded and the duration studied.
What happens if a recipient decides to leave their studies?

If for any reason a recipient decides to cease studying, he/she must:

- inform theIF
- return any outstanding monies

We will be sympathetic to any personal difficulty affecting the student and will offer assistance where possible.

What happens if a recipient decides not to return to their resident country at all?
Funding will immediately cease.
Are the details of recipients published?
Details of recipients are not published and remain highly confidential to trustees of theIF.
I want to sponsor a student. Is this possible?
Yes. Contact us to discuss this further - click here
Does theIF provide scholarships for academic study in the west such as PhDs?
We aspire to be in a position to provide funding for academic study in the west. However, this is a long term objective and will take many years to achieve.
If I am accepted for a scholarship, what is expected of me?
It is hoped any student awarded funding will appreciate the importance of being granted the opportunity to study the Islamic sciences and be humbled by the generous donations forthcoming from the community. This should encourage all students to conduct themselves with dignity and self-respect and spend their time and money wisely, knowing that they will - Insha’Allah - become role models for future generations. Upon their return, they are expected to promote tolerance and harmony within the Muslim community, educating and helping those in need and encourage mutual discourse and engagement with wider society.
